Sea Light Studios

I did all of the planning for our January north shore Kauai wedding on my own, and a good photographer was first on my priority list. Since we were traveling 4000 miles away for our wedding, not only did I want to ensure that we had quality photos to memorialize our big day, but it was also important that we could share our experience through photos with our friends and family back in Iowa who were unable to make the trip. I found Sea Light Studios online and was instantly in awe of their beautiful images of Kauai. Fawne timely responded to all of my questions via email and was helpful in sharing her knowledge of the island as well as recommending other vendors (in particular, she recommended Mia Moriguchi for my hair and makeup, who was terrific). When our wedding day finally arrived, I think I was nervous about every detail except for our photographers – although we had yet to meet, I felt very confident in them based on our prior communications. Sure enough, Fawne and Sebastian arrived early, helped orchestrate our Hanalei Bay ceremony, made us feel at ease, and, most importantly, took a variety of quality photos. We really appreciated their patience and friendliness. After the ceremony, our families had nothing but great things to say about Fawne and Sebastian (and I got to take the credit for finding them :) ). The following day, we had a “trash the dress” session scheduled, and since we wanted to do something adventurous, Fawne and Sebastian took us on a challenging hike along the amazing Na Pali Coast to a breathtaking waterfall. Words cannot adequately describe the overwhelming beauty of this corner of the world. Our photos from this adventure are absolutely stunning, and it was such a fun and memorable day of hiking and picture-taking. We were extremely sad when it was time for us to leave Kauai, and we were grateful to receive online access to our wedding photos in a few weeks, with our photo CD arriving in the mail shortly after that. Since then, I have flipped through our pictures at least once a day – it’s impossible not to be in a good mood after looking at our amazing images of such a happy and special trip. In sum, I highly recommend choosing the awesome duo of Fawne and Sebastian at Sea Light Studios to be your photographers. Our experience could not have been better.

Fawne + Sebastian were amazing. From first contact she has been one of the most responsive people I've communicated with on the island - you know "island time" ;P But in all honesty they were a great price considering wedding photography. They helped with SO much, from scheduling to island information - Cannot say enough about how accommodating and helpful they were! And then there's the photos.... Stunning. My husband and I both love them. They are flattering, artistic and simply beautiful. They made us feel so comfortable and really made our day special. They felt like old friends. Hope to see them again soon!

Sheila and I feel very blessed to have met Fawne and Sebastian at Sea Light Studios.  These two professional photographers exceeded our expectations and made our wedding very special.  In addition to being very talented at their craft, they are youthful, energetic, caring and fun individuals.   We were amazed at how beautiful the location selections were.  Kauai has some of the most amazing scenery in the world and Fawne and Sebastian use this landscape to create a wonderful canvas for their work.    They kept us relaxed while gently guided us.  It felt very natural and stress free.  Actually it was fun. Having two photographers instead of one was a special benefit.  Although they work together as a team, they bring a variety of perspectives on how to get the best shot. I am so happy to have found Fawne & Sebastian from Sea Light Studios! I stumbled across their portfolio online while planning my destination wedding for Kaua'i. Fawne helped me so much through out the whole planning process of my wedding. She was extremely helpful and patient, answering my many emails. On our wedding day, Fawne & Sebastian chose the most jaw dropping locations that would truly make our wedding pictures stand out and become so memorable. They were a pleasure to work with the entire day! They made the uncomfortable feeling of being in front of a camera, a breeze! They are kind hearted and sincere people. They truly want you to feel comfortable so it is easy to look natural rather then posed in your pictures. These two are amazing people and brilliant photographers. We loved Fawne and Sebastian as our wedding photographers. As everyone knows, there is a lot riding on your big day, but you can really have trust in them that they are going to take care of EVERYTHING! They had such fun personalities but were also very responsible which I think is important. I am obsessed with photos and every time I thought, this would be a great picture, one of them was right there with camera in hand. I would definitely recommend them, in fact, I already have!

Another enthusiastic groom who is a lifelong fan of Sealight Studios! My fiancée (now wife) found Sebastian and Fawne through our wedding coordinator and was instantly addicted after seeing examples of their work on their website--she had to have them. After I saw the same evidence, I agreed, and from there the interaction started. They provided great communication up to the event, helping to build confidence while also helping direct us towards the event with helpful information. We first met them face-to-face when they arrived at our cottage in Kauai, both with big smiles and an engaging personality (no pun intended). They did their work while we did ours, capturing natural moments that have since brought our attendees back to tears--they did such a great job. The event was perfect, and so were they. Key issues I'll highlight in this review are quality, artistic abilities, and personalities. From a quality and artistic perspective, the photos are amazing. The quality is great--focus and timing is amazing; they captured water droplets from key moments of coconuts cracking, key elements are in replicated in wonderful resolution. Artistic qualities are a differentiator. Their use of depth of focus, their guidance to the people in scenes, their use of natural backgrounds are unlike any I've personally experienced. I've been at many events with professional photographers, and to me they were all the same. Sealight Studios has changed that statement from "are" to "were". Personalities--these two people are now friends after only 3 short hours. Everyone in our party loved them. They were engaged with us in discussion after the event, and during it provided polite direction while being present but not intrusive--allowing the natural actions & interactions to occur. During the directed photos they made us laugh, put us in various positions while being patient for us to understand what they were looking for, while getting exactly the intended image. After everything was done they continued to stay in touch, sending us a few images for our reception (1 week later) which helped communicate how our big day went to people who didn't attend. The photos were delivered about 5 weeks after the event and are the most amazing wedding images I've ever personally seen (except for their website which shows more of their work!). We got more than our money paid for, and if I could do it again, the only thing I'd change is that I would have paid them to join our dinner that evening for more photos. I can even say that I'd consider paying them to fly to our mid-west home area if we ever have a future event we'd like to capture professionally. In summary, Sebastian, Fawne, and their business Sealight Studios are 5 out of 5 stars in every category I can think of from quality, communication, artistry, personality, and more. Highly recommended--worth every penny (and more).
